DOW: Negroni

>> Sunday, August 1, 2010

As the story goes, the year was 1919 in Florence, Italy. Count Camillo Negroni asked the bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to add gin to an Americano cocktail. To indicate the difference between the two drinks, he used an orange slice for garnish instead of a lemon slice.

  • 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz sweet red vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Campari
  • orange slice for garnish
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice. Add the first three ingredients. Stir well and garnish. You can also use a cocktail shaker instead of stirring.
