DOW: Bloody Mary

>> Sunday, October 17, 2010

The origin of this drink, which first appeared in 1930's, is disputed, but more clear is the inspiration for its name, Mary I, Queen of England, who in the 16th century earned the nickname "Bloody Mary" for her execution hundreds of Protestants during her reign.

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 5 oz tomato juice
  • 2 oz lemon juice
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 3-8 dashes Tabasco sauce
  • dashes of salt and pepper
It's probably better to shake this drink to better mix the ingredients, but I find that stirring is fine. Serve over three or four ice cubes. Add a celery stalk for stirring if you wish.
