apple tart
On my first attempt to visit Steeve Raye Pastry in early October, I was foiled by the simple fact that it had not yet opened for business. Harrumph! I had to "settle" on Thomas Haas instead.

Thanks to Mia Stainsby, I learned that this pâtisserie was finally open, and I hopped on down to check it out. The staff, and the man, Steeve Rayé, were super friendly even before I whipped out my camera.

It goes without saying that all chefs are passionate about food, but Steeve takes it to the next level. Given his background—reared in France, son of La Régalade owners—it's not surprising.

I took home an apple tart, a rum raisin roll, a pain au chocolat and, of course, a (sugar) brioche. Either I was still hungry after my Halloween candy breakfast, or the pastries were very, very good. The hot chocolate I ordered was also quite a treat.
