Ganache Pâtisserie

>> Monday, December 13, 2010

As our regular readers have noticed by now, we like going to bakeries, a lot. We like going to French bakeries even more. We had been meaning to visit Ganache Pâtisserie for a long time. We even made it there one evening, after it had closed; all we came home with was a photograph.

We were in the area last week running errands, and we knew we had to pick up a few slices to bring home.

The concord framboise, pictured to the right, was a stunning dark chocolate pillow with a streak of subtle, yet persistent, raspberry peppiness.
The goyave et fraises was a heavenly explosion of fruit flavour on a crisply tender crust.

The tarte au citron meringuée was a perfect melange of tartness, sweetness and texture.

Finally, the blanc frasier, a layered can best be described as strawberry shortcake on crack.

The displays of cake decoration samples were so captivating that I spent a good five minutes taking shots:

It's a good thing we don't live in Yaletown, or we'd be finding excuses to traipse on down and indulge ourselves, over and over and over again.

Oh wait, don't we need to go to that shop on Homer Street next weekend?

I've been meaning to post and compliment you on your photos -- someone has a very good eye.
