Baker's Market

>> Monday, December 6, 2010

Where in Vancouver can you find top-tier baked goods at rock-bottom prices? If you guessed the Baker's Market, you'd be absolutely correct! Previously located in an industrial area of South Vancouver, they have recently moved to the Creekside Community Centre in the Southeast False Creek neighbourhood.

I have had the good fortune of attending four Saturdays this fall, and I have been amazed by the quality and diversity of treats available.

Many vendors exert considerable effort to make their displays a delight for the eyes as well as the tummy.

Cakes and cupcakes were, not surprisingly, ubiquitous given their popularity.

However, all kinds of baked goods are available.

Though sweet treats are the predominant theme, there are several vendors who have breads and savoury goods.

Some vendors even have a few non-baked goods available as well.

The following two photos were from the Halloween market, of course.

Sad to say, there's only market left in 2010, on December 11, but stay tuned; we expect another season of baked goodies in the new year.
