Marulilu Cafe

>> Friday, April 23, 2010

Natto. How many breakfast places in Vancouver serve natto? Probably the same as the number of Japanese restaurants that are open for breakfast. When we learned about Marulilu Cafe, across the street from the Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain station, we knew we had to pay a visit. We both chose the most delicate and filling Japanese breakfast. How could we not order this quintessential meal our first time here? We were served omelette, salmon, miso soup, and rice with our choice of soft tofu or natto.

The matcha tea was served with additional hot water in case we needed it.

Some of the treats available.

This cosy cafe has been open since December.

This is perhaps the best London Fog we've had in a very long time.

The cafe is excellent at acknowledging western tastes while respecting Japanese traditions.

They had two Vancouver Sun and two Province newspapers, as well as many English and Japanese magazines available for customers to read.

Check it out next time you're in the neighbourhood. You won't be disappointed!

Utterly scrumptious looking! Can't wait to see what's next... Something Latino perhaps?
