Plöger Delikatessen

>> Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Ever since we saw that Plöger Delikatessen opened in Kitsilano, we've been meaning to pay a visit. Good thing they are on the Cypress bike route because it was easy to drop in on the way home.

Established in 1935, the owners packed up their business in 2009 and moved from Frankfurt, Germany, to sunny Vancouver, Canada. It seems they are still finding their niche here, but from what we've seen so far, they are on the right track.

They now have quite a few in-house items, like granola,

preserves,

quiche,

and sandwiches,

along with many other items that you might find in a delicatessen in Germany.

And of course, any good German deli would stock quality goods from other parts of the country as well. These fruits are from Quebec.

There is comfortable seating indoors and out.

On this visit, we purchased only a vegan chocolate cake piece. Only after every delicious bite was devoured did I realize that I had failed to take a photo of it. Oh well, I guess we'll have to go back for more.
