On 2nd Avenue near Burrard, you can find a mini gallic oasis, with Les Amis du Fromage, Fabrics de France, and Pâtisserie Lebeau. Yes, the waffles at Pâtisserie Lebeau are Belgian and not French, but you get the point.
I could overhear customers in line talking with their friends, deciding between choosing one of their favourite waffles or trying something new. Some of them were excited to bring along friends to introduce them to the waffle experience.
There was quite a selection of savoury
and sweet waffles,
filled and not,
along with sandwiches, much like you'd find in a
boulangerie/bakkerij in Brussels.
I purchased some waffles to bring home

plus a baguette. Our kids loved the baguette so much that we know we need to buy two next time.

And the waffles, you ask? Scrumptious! Those Belgians sure know their waffles, and more.
