DOW: Gin and Tonic

>> Saturday, June 5, 2010

"Summer! It turns me upside down. Summer, summer, summer. It's like a merry-go-round."

No, not quite, but today certainly evoked it with clear blue skies, and the taste of a balmy day. To us, summer means gin and tonics.

Recipe:
  • 2 oz gin
  • 5 oz tonic water
  • slice or wedge of lime

Fill a highball glass with ice, add the gin and tonic water. Garnish with the lime.

Hi guys,

After seeing you in Whidbey, we came home and measured our G&T proportions. They are very close to yours, but a little stronger, 2:1, sometimes 1.5:1 (Tom's). The key difference is at least a 16 oz. glass crammed with ice. When it is hot, or you are hot tubbing, you want to be able to drink it like lemonade for real refreshment. We'll try it next time you are in town, or when we visit.

We tried it with much more ice as you recommended, it's much more fabulous. We updated our photo accordingly.
