DOW: B-52

>> Saturday, June 26, 2010

For our first shot drink of our "drink of the week" series, we chose our favourite shot, the B-52. Named after the B-52 Stratofortress long-range bomber, this famous drink is built rather than mixed.

The first layer is a coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlua). The second layer is an Irish cream (Bailey's) and the final layer is an orange liqueur (Grand Marnier). The challenging part of the construction is carefully pouring over a spoon so that the layers don't mix. As you can see from the photo, I was only mostly successful. And it was only my second attempt tonight.

We don't think we'll ever tire of this shot!

ah, the memories. in college we went to a bar called miami spice (guess i am giving away my age with that reference). drank shooters out of test tubes. loved B-52s. practice makes perfect with the layering.
