In honour of this month's 137th running of the
Kentucky Derby, we made a drink that's been on our to-make list for a while, the Mint Julep.
- a handful of mint leaves
- 1 tsp. berry (caster) sugar
- 2 oz bourbon
- crushed ice
Put mint leaves, bourbon and sugar into the bottom of a glass or if you have one, a mint julep cup (no, you don't have to
spend $1000 for one). Stir together for a minute or two. Fill with crushed ice and stir again until well chilled. Finally, top off with more ice, and add a sprig of mint for garnish.
